This warning relates to the use of PC (polycarbonate) in our products. It applies only to customers in California, because of a particularity of Californian law. While countries all over the world have agreed to restrict or warn customers about the use of this material only in food-contact materials, California requires a warning label for non-food contact materials. This is what this label is about. It is known as a P65 Warning, related to California Prop 65.
WARNING: Products with this warning message can expose you to chemicals including Bisphenol A (BPA), which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov or to https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/fact-sheets/bisphenol-bpa
This label indicates the presence of Bisphenol-A (also commonly known as BPA) in the hard-plastic component(s) of the product. The hard plastic is made of Polycarbonate (also commonly known as PC). PC is one of the most common plastics used for consumer items. It has been in use and widely tested since the 1960s and remains the number one material of choice for housings of consumer products. While most experts consider PC to be a safe material for consumer products, it is known to release Bisphenol-A (also commonly known as BPA) when used in food-contact products (like baby bottles, or food containers in contact with hot food). Other ways of exposure may exist, but are less common.
For more information about BPA in California refer to: https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/fact-sheets/bisphenol-bpa
Please note that not all manufacturers will apply this warning (or will only do so locally in California), hence, the absence of such a label does not necessarily mean that similar products do not contain BPA.
